Choose one central feeling
Begin with a moment you can describe: missing someone, finding confidence or starting again. Concrete details give a listener something to picture. A song becomes easier to follow when its verses return to a shared emotional centre.
Find a phrase worth repeating
A chorus can focus on a short phrase that captures the song’s main idea. Speak it aloud, then sing it in a few different ways. Notice where your voice naturally pauses and which words deserve emphasis.
Read the lyrics aloud
Listen for words that feel forced or lines that are difficult to sing. Simplify where needed and make sure the verses add something to the chorus. Leave some room for the listener instead of explaining every feeling.
